We've rolled out a set of improvements to give you more intuitive, and faster control over your showcase site. Whether you're updating a single location or reorganising hundreds, these changes should save you significant time.
Edit button on every page
This is the big one. If you're logged into an email with edit control for a showcase site, you'll now see an edit button in the bottom-right corner of every public page. Click it, and you'll go straight to the relevant editing screen on your private side — no more hunting through your account to find the right page. It's a small change that saves a surprising amount of time in your workflow.
On each location's public page, the five images at the top are now fully in your control. You can select which photos appear there and drag them into whatever order you like. The large image on the left automatically becomes the cover photo that appears in search results too, so you can make sure your best shot is front and centre.
Whether you have a handful or hundreds of locations on your showcase site, the old "click View More and keep scrolling" approach was painful. The Manage Locations section now includes proper search (by private or public name) and sorting options (by date added or name). Finding and editing specific locations is now much quicker.
All three features are live now. Log in to your SuperScout account, go to showcase site settings & click the showcase link at the bottom, then log in to see how it all works.
We've had another busy time building things based on your feedback. We're thrilled to share three major updates to SuperScoot that make managing and discovering 1000s of locations around the globe even easier
Let's be honest - finding the right location often means visiting dozens of individual film office websites, each with their own database and search system. It's time-consuming, frustrating, and you always wonder if you're missing something great. We wanted to change that.
Global Locations is a game-changing centralised search platform where film offices can share their publicly available locations in one place. We launched with over 1,000 incredible locations across England, Ireland, and Rochester, NY, and the database updates automatically whenever film offices add new locations to their SuperScout showcase sites.
For scouts, this is huge: you can now search across multiple regions and film offices without jumping between websites. Discover stunning locations you might never have found otherwise. For film offices, it's completely effortless - if you've opted in, your locations appear on Global Locations the instant you publish them. No extra work, no duplicate uploads, no hassle.
Protect Your Images with Automatic Watermarking 🔒
We know how important it is to protect your location imagery while still making it accessible to potential clients. That's why we've added flexible watermarking that works exactly how you need it to.
You can now add watermarks automatically to images on your showcase site, in share links, or in downloadable photos. Upload any watermark file, position it wherever you want it, and adjust the size and opacity to perfectly match your brand. Set one watermark across your entire account, or customize it per share link for different clients or projects.
It's powerful protection without the manual work - exactly what you need to confidently share your locations.
Sometimes photos get uploaded at the wrong angle. It happens! Now you can fix them instantly without the hassle of re-uploading. Rotate individual images with a single click or fix multiple locations in bulk - whatever your workflow needs.
No more sideways castles or upside-down storefronts. Just quick, easy fixes that keep your locations looking their absolute best.
These updates are live right now for all SuperScout users! We're incredibly excited to see how these features improve your workflow. As always, we'd love to hear what you think and what you'd like to see next. 💙
Always feel free to email us or WhatsApp us. We love to chat and hear your thoughts.
Until next time,

🎉 Big News: SuperScout can now help you showcase your locations across the internet
Until now, SuperScout has been your private locations database —a place to organize, search, and manage your locations behind the scenes. That's of course staying, but you can now also use SuperScout to showcase your locations publicly, with our new 'Showcase site' feature.
With just a few clicks, you can now publish your locations directly from SuperScout for the world to see. No complex website builders. No messy uploads. Just a clean, professional website, branded to you, built right into your workflow.

🚀 Why It Matters to Showcase your Locations Publicly
Our goal with SuperScout has always been to save you time in your location work. We started with simplifying the chaos of managing location data, but this feature is the first step towards our exciting future!
One website where you can not only sort, search, and share your own locations, but also an easy way to share locations across the SuperScout network:
Making it easy for:
Film offices & location agencies to get their locations in front of more productions
Location managers & scouts to expand their databases when needed, in a few clicks
Essex Film Office's search page, filtered down to historic houses.
👀 Want to Try It?
If you want to share your own locations publicly, upgrade to our new price tier, Showcase, and we'll help you get set up. Sign in to SuperScout, click profile icon --> settings --> billing --> manage/upgrade.
If this price is simply not feasible with your budget, but you really want it, also let us know! We can make exceptions for charities, non profits, or micro organisations.
If you just want to see other people's showcase sites, that's of course free. Here are our earliest adopters:
While this feature has been most requested by film offices & location agencies, anyone can choose to upgrade to it if they want to show off the amazing locations in their database, across the internet.
On 17 September, we launched version 1 of this system. Updates in the near future will include:
For showcase site owners:
Analytics: What locations are most popular, and what searches are people making on your site?
A new page displaying all photos in mosaic form
The ability to add more collections than the max 12 on the home page.
For visitors / SuperScout users
Very quickly add locations to a project to share with directors, without ever downloading anything.

Organise your locations with smart folders
Have you ever...
Wanted to add the same location in your database to multiple projects, without duplicating the file?
Wanted to see a history of every project you've ever considered a single location on?
Wanted an easy way to add a location to multiple places at the same time?
Prefer watching a demo than reading instructions? Watch this.
With SuperScout you can do all of the above and more, with our "Collections" and "Projects" systems
You can think of these systems as smart folders.
Like normal folders on your computer or Dropbox, you can put folders inside folders, for as many layers down as you like.
Unlike normal folders, you can put one single location, into as many of these collection and project folders as you want.
Which means:
No more duplicates
No more deciding whether a house with a swimming pool should be in houses, or swimming pools - on SuperScout it can be in both.
No more updating one duplicate location with essential information and having to try and find the other versions to update, or trying to remember that info in your head
Simply add one location into as many folder as you want, and when you update a location, it updates everywhere, all at once.
Read on to learn how to organise your locations with smart folders.
How to create a collection or project.
Go into the relevant section and click "+ New ..." (button in the top right of the page)
OR
2. if you're adding a single location to a smart folder, you can choose to create a new folder instantly. "+ New" button in bottom left of that view.
And once your main folder is created, you can create subfolders.
Collections are designed for types of places. For example:
Residential
Detached houses
Terraced houses
Apartments/flats
Farms
Projects help you keep track of a single project and all location options within it. You can structure the folders however you want but here's an idea of how some people are using it:
Reservoir dogs
Warehouse
Selects
Rejects
New scouts
Diner
Streets
Rooftop
Office
Bathroom
Club
At every layer, you can add cover images to make your folders more visually appealing:
Either by selecting one of the cover images of a subfolder or location within that folder.
OR by uploading a completely custom image, so you can add relevant posters for your projects, or concept art for your location groups.
Organise your locations with smart folders
At any part of this process, you can easily add & remove your locations within these collections and projects.
Editing one collection or project, but adding/removing locations in bulk
Anytime you're browsing collections / projects, simply click "edit locations" and you can select any you want to add or de-select any you want to remove
Selected options are marked with a purple border
Editing one location, but adding/removing collections or projects in bulk
When you're on search, click the little + button on every location to reveal which folders that location is already added to, and to add the selected location to more.
Here's an example of what you'd see when you click the + button on a location. This location has been added directly to the folder "Test Project" & has also been added to one of the subfolders within Gentleman s2, Assassin's Creed, Tron, and Andor
Sharing your collection/project outside of your account
You have the ability to create "share links" of every collection or project. These are public facing links, where you can share options with directors, producers, or colleagues, in a unique link they can access from any device. But that system requires its own blog post (coming soon).
Thank yous
We created the smart folder system originally based on feedback from all our customers, but I have to shout out two particular requests that take the system to the next level:
Tom Howard (location manager) suggested we split them into two dedicated sections. Originally they were all under Collections, but having them separated makes a lot more sense.
Oli Laurenson-Gore (location manager) requested the ability to see which projects a single location has already been added to.

Our brand new iOS app for scouting locations
iPhone users, this ones for you. We've built an iOS app for scouting locations.
Throughout our 100s of conversations with location scouts & managers last year, we were shocked by how much time is spent at the end of a day of scouting, organising everything manually into your database from different sources: photos, notes, and addresses, even if all your scouting is done on your phone.
We've been working on a companion iPhone app to save you all this time at the end of your day, and help you get scouted locations in front of clients / directors / colleagues faster.
We recently launched the first version and we'd love to hear what you think. It’s a FREE addition to your SuperScout subscription.
How the SuperScout app works
The iOS app for scouting locations is purely for taking photos & uploading to your SuperScout account. It is designed to work offline and allows you to quickly capture scouting information on your phone or iPad and then upload it when you have suitable connectivity. With it you can:
create locations using your GPS location or location data embedded in existing photos
capture images from the iPhone camera from within the application
add notes to the images
and upload all the above directly into a selected SuperScout workspace
If you give the app full access to your photo library, it will also save all your photos to your camera roll for backup.
Note: The app is NOT a way to view your full SuperScout account. To use your SuperScout account in full, please continue to use your web browser.

Here's a quick video of how to create a location, add photos & notes, and upload:
Don't have an iPhone?
What type of camera do you use when scouting? Let us know!
Don't have a SuperScout account yet?
You'll have to start a free trial on the website, before uploads on the app will work. But you can start taking photos and organising them into locations, without a SuperScout subscription.

Easily edit your photo tags and save time with account wide link settings
We’re constantly working to make SuperScout more powerful for you. Today, we added some user-requested features: account wide share link defaults and editable photo tags
If you click your profile icon, you'll find a new menu option: "Share link defaults."
The settings you add here will be applied to every share link you ever create. You can always override defaults on each share link you create, on a case by case basis, by clicking the setting button in the top right.
We will add more share link defaults in the future, but today there are 2:
If you turn this on, the clients you send your share link to will be able to download the content you share with them, directly to their computer.
They will receive a zip file which will contain a series of folders mimicking the layout of your share link.
To keep your location data secure, all the files are compressed to remove any EXIF (identifying) data, and the file names are replaced with random characters. Only the collections, locations, and photos that you set to 'visible' in your share link, will be added to this download.
Key text
We've had a number of requests from users, who have asked for the ability to add text under their share link logo. Some people want to add their contact details. Some people have asked for a place to put a copyright notice.
So we created a customisable text field here that allows you to put whatever you want, with a max of 200 characters. You can also add links to make it easy for people to get in touch with you.
This text will show up on every page of your share link except gallery view, right under your logo/name.
See these updates in action, in the demo below
Link tips (that also work outside SuperScout)
Email
Want someone to be able to click your email and have it automatically open a new email to you on their computer? You can use a "mailto" link to do this.
Add a link like you normally might, but instead of adding "https://(website)" simply add the text "mailto:(your_email)" - here's an example: Email me.
Do you run most of your business on WhatsApp? You can create a WhatsApp link for a quick way for people to message you without having to type your number into their phone. Add your number inc country code to the end of this link: "https://wa.me/(your_number)" - Example: https://wa.me/+447457410936
Another highly requested feature, was the ability to tweak the automatically generated tags. Both by removing ones that are less relevant, as well as adding your own custom ones.
With this new system, you can remove any irrelevant tags with a simple click of a button, or easily add new ones. IF you try and add a tag that's already there, it won't work - it doesn't accept duplicates.
If for some reason your photo did not get tagged (as can happen occasionally) you also have the ability to add it back in to the tagging queue manually. You don't have to stay on the image for this to work - keep working and the next time you look at that image, it'll probably be tagged.
Updated share links to publish immediately when you create
stopped automatic tagging on guest locations, until approved
Removed "Timeline" from location view
Added a list of locations to each contact in contact list
Added "Hide all" in share link setup
Added the ability for users to edit their workspace slug (or not) in workspace settings
That sums up our update of account wide share link defaults and editable photo tags. While that's all we have for today, there's a lot more coming in the next few weeks!
